How do you get ride of an infection in your computer?

My computer did a scan and it said I have 26 infected files and I need to buy this software to delete them and protect my computer should I buy it? If I don't correct it soon. What will happen?How do you get ride of an infection in your computer?

You should have Windows Defender. It is free from Microsoft and watches your system prevents programs from taking over your home page etc.

Between those three you are doing a pretty good job of protecting your system. It is all free and will help you avoin those scams.
Save any files that you can and use the restore disks (or ';Quick Restore';) software disks that probably came with your computer. If you cannot find them ask the retailer for some. They should be free of charge if the computer was purchased at a store.





If your computer really has that many infected files, you might have to do a clean sweep in order to get it functioning right again. I am not an expert, however. I hope you get a lot of good advice. You could consider phoning the computer retailer.

last time I looked) and buy 2 Symantec software suites called ';Norton System Works'; and ';Norton Internet Security';. Those will cost you some money. Make sure you get the current version of all of those programs because every program has an internat database of ';definition files';. Those are the names of the files that are the problem files that attack your computer system.

No. Dont buy it. If you want to get rid of a horrible virus, your best bet is to uninstall and reinstall your Windows. If you know someone who can do this, i would suggest just starting all over and hopefully, like me, learn your lesson.
